Holidaymakers jetting off to the Mediterranean this summer are set to bask in temperatures above 40C.
But weather experts are warning travellers to take precautions as in some areas the heat could reach potentially-dangerous levels.
Health warnings have been issued across Europe, with temperatures reaching more than 40 degrees in Spain, Greece, Italy and Corsica.
The Aemet Meteorological Centre, in Spain, has also issued an orange alert warning of sizzling temperatures in Mallorca, Minorca, Catalonia, Zaragoza and Huesca.
In Ibiza, Malaga and Granada a yellow warning has been issued, suggesting temperatures could reach 42C.
The hot weather also brings a risk of wildfires in some areas.
Last week wildfires spread across a forest in the south of France and the island of Corsica, forcing thousands of tourists to evacuate.
Dry hot weather also caused wildfires to spread across parts of Ostia in Italy, Naples and Split in Croatia.
Authorities are urging people to take care of children, the elderly and vulnerable people.
Sun-seekers are also being advised to drink lots of water, stay in the shade, wear suncream and light clothes.
For those of us remaining in the North East, the forecast doesn’t look so bright.
Temperatures are expected to reach a maximum of 18C, with occasional sunny spells likely to be punctuated with showers and the chance of a thunder storm over the weekend, according to the Met Office.
