Come and help revive the economy, Mugabe appeals to Zimbabweans abroad
Lupane – Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe on Friday pleaded with his country’s skilled workers living in the diaspora to return home so that they could help in reviving the southern African country's floundering economy.
This came at a time when an estimated four million Zimbabweans were living outside the country after fleeing economic problems and alleged political persecution at the hands of the 93 year-old leader’s administration.

Mugabe lavishes sister-in-law with $60 000 birthday gift
Harare - Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe lavished his sister-in-law with $60,000 on her birthday, state-owned media reported Monday, at a time when the country is running critically short of cash.
The Herald newspaper said Mugabe, 93, and his wife Grace gave Junior Gumbochuma the money at her birthday celebrations, while the couple's children gave her $10 000.
"The gift was to thank Mrs Gumbochuma, a pastor, for the pivotal role she played in raising the First Family's children," the newspaper said.

Cancer treatment not a death sentence, I'm ready for 2018: Tsvangirai
Harare - Zimbabwe opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai says his cancer treatment is going well, and he’s fit enough to take on President Robert Mugabe in elections next year.
The comments come after recent rumours circulated on social media that the veteran MDC leader has only months to live.
"I'm feeling fine. I’m responding well. It takes time," Tsvangirai told Studio 7, Voice of America’s Zimbabwe-focused radio programme.

Mamoepe 'an avid communicator and diplomat', says Lesotho
Cape Town – The Lesotho government and opposition officials have reportedly hailed the late struggle activist and Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa's spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa as "an avid communicator and diplomat".
Mamoepa died on Saturday night at the age of 56, following complications from a stroke he suffered in June.
According to SABC, Lesotho Prime Minister Tom Thabane's spokesperson Thabo Thakalekoala said he learnt a lot from Mamoepa.

Trump 'a brainless billionaire', says Somalia's Shabaab in new video
Mogadishu - The Somalia-based al-Shabaab is mocking President Donald Trump in a new video that calls him a "brainless billionaire" as his administration steps up military efforts against the extremist group.
The SITE Intelligence Group says the video released on Sunday includes the criticism of Trump as it addresses next month's presidential election in neighbouring Kenya.
