Birdseye man, dog killed in fire

BIRDSEYE, IN (WFIE) - Investigators are still trying to determine what caused a deadly house fire in Dubois County.

We're told 19-year-old Damian McBride, of Birdseye, and his dog, Zander, died in the fire on County Road 150 North.

Damian graduated from Forest Park High School, where he played football. He was currently in his second year at Vincennes University.

Neighbors say he was very involved in his community. He was in the process of becoming a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and was in the St. Anthony Conservation Club.

Visitation is scheduled from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
