AUSTIN, Texas — An Austin woman is facing charges after she allegedly drove home with her two children in her car.
On October 23rd, officers responded to the 1300 block of I-35 NB following reports of a 2-vehicle crash.
Once at the scene, a woman told the police her gray Ford had been struck from behind near the service road’s intersection with 11th street. The woman said the other vehicle, a Nissan, kept driving north on the service road, hit a second vehicle and fled the scene.
The affidavit says the first victim remained at the scene of the second crash and advised officers the woman driving the Nissan had a toddler in her vehicle.
Another witness called to report a single-vehicle crash at the 2200 block of N I-35. The man told the police he saw the Nissan entering onto the highway at a high rate of speed, crossing over the NB lanes, and crashing into the guardrail.
The witness said the vehicle was occupied by a female and not one, but two children.
Bystanders assisted the driver until police arrived.
The woman, who was later identified as 32-year-old Alvina Porter, was charged with driving while intoxicated (with child passenger), a state jail felony.
Porter’s bond was set to $12,000.
