NOUAKCHOTT, July 26 (KUNA) -- President of the Arab Parliament Ahmad Al-Jarwan welcomed on Tuesday ultimatum by the State of Kuwait to the Yemeni parties so as to end the UN-brokered peace negotiations.
Following the conclusion of the 27th Arab League Summit, Al-Jarwan told KUNA in a statement that Kuwait and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah have exerted all possible efforts so as to render the talks a success.
"Kuwait has been hosting the talks for a long time," he said.
"The Yemeni parties will be responsible for the failure of the talks," Al-Jarwan said.
Kuwait's decision to give a 15-day ultimatum for the Yemeni warring parties to put an end to their talks was the "right decision," he added.
Regarding the Arab League Summit, Al-Jarwan said promoting the joint Arab action requires many efforts, indicating that the Nouakchott Summit was not enough to promote this action. He affirmed that this move needs more work, time and Arabs' meetings.
He, however, noted that the summit focused on key topics like the Palestinian cause and terrorism which has posed a threat to the region's countries, mainly Iraq and Libya.
The summit also dealt with Iran's interference in internal affairs of Arab countries and some issues on poverty, economy and development, he pointed out. (end) khn.hm
