JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is monitoring a measles outbreak in Arkansas, Missouri, and 19 other states and the District of Columbia.

From Jan. 1 to July 14 of this year, according to the CDC, 107 people have been diagnosed with the virus.

Last year, 118 people from 15 states were reported to have measles. The United States experienced a record number of cases in 2014 with 667 cases.

The majority of people who got measles were unvaccinated.

Measles typically begins with

  • High fever
  • Cough
  • Runny nose
  • Red, watery eyes

Two or three days after symptoms begin, tiny white spots may appear inside the mouth. Three to five days later, a rash breaks out, usually as flat red spots on the face at the hairline.
