Zendaya trades a pink ballgown for a tennis ball dress at ‘Challengers’ Los Angeles premiere

Ballgown in the streets, tennis in the theater.

Zendaya showed off two wildly different looks at the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie, “Challengers,” on Tuesday, changing from a princess-like ballgown into a sleek tennis ball-themed dress.

The “Dune: Part Two” star, 27, hit the red carpet in a custom Vera Wang Haute creation, showing off a lingerie-inspired design featuring a black lace bustier with garters hanging from the top and a pale pink satin skirt.

Her skirt’s split design showed off a black tulle petticoat underneath, with the gown trailing off in a dramatic train.

Zendaya — who plays a tennis coach who ends up in a love triangle with her husband and an ex-boyfriend in the film — wore her hair in a neat updo, accessorizing with huge diamond studs to let her lacy gown do the talking.

The look marked a massive departure from the rest of her tennis-themed press tour ensembles, and many fans took to social media to wonder what was going on with her wardrobe.

“Where’s the themed dressing go? Seems odd to be SO deep in it then just drop it?” one Instagram user commented on Check the Tag’s Instagram post.

However, the “Greatest Showman” star stuck to the familiar once inside the Regency Village Theatre, changing into a plunging gown in the same bright green hue as a tennis ball.

The custom Celia Kritharioti look — which dropped all the way down to her navel, past her belly button — included a halter neckline with ruched detail and was accented at the waist with a real tennis ball that had been sliced in half.

She paired the neon look with a pair of nude pumps, joining her co-stars Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor at the front of the theater as they chatted about the film, which hits screens on April 26.

This is the second time the “Spider-Man: Homecoming” star has used a tennis ball on her outfit; she also wore custom Loewe pumps with a ball spiked through the heels during a “Challengers” photocall in Rome.
