TOPEKA (KSNT) – A funeral service will be held for second-grade teacher Ashleigh Boyd who died in a multiple-vehicle crash southwest of Topeka.

On April 11, the Shawnee County Sheriff’s office was called to a crash southwest of Topeka. Two adults and an infant were involved in the crash. Boyd died at the scene. The child and adult both suffered serious injuries, according to the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office.

Boyd was a teacher at Lowman Hill Elementary, according to a letter from Topeka Public Schools.

“We share with tremendous sadness the passing of Ms. Ashleigh Boyd, a second-grade teacher who was beloved in Topeka Public Schools and adored by all of her students at Lowman Hill Elementary,” USD 501 shared in a weekly press release. “Ms. Boyd was a bright light at Lowman Hill, and her enthusiasm for teaching was felt by staff across the district. She leaves behind a young daughter, Ellie.”

A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, April 19 at Kevin Brennan Funeral Home. Funeral services will start at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20 at the Carbondale Junior High School. A graveside funeral will be held at the Carbondale Cemetery.
