Homeowners eager to take on warm-weather projects can meet local landscapers, home improvement companies and more at the free Spring Into Summer Small Business Expo set for 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes.

The event will also feature cleaning services, caterers and party-supply companies, said Mary Dupont, executive director of La Plaza Delaware.

“Residents can meet trusted, local experts who are licensed and insured for their household projects,” Dupont said. “All the services necessary to get the house and yard ready for summer will be together in one place, and it’s free to attend.”

The event is organized by the Delaware Alliance of Latino Entrepreneurs, or ¡DALE!, a group devoted to strengthening and supporting the Latino business community, and La Plaza Delaware, a nonprofit partnership working to elevate Latino and minority-owned businesses.

Community partners for the expo include the chambers of commerce from Lewes, Georgetown, Milford, Bethany-Fenwick area, Millsboro and Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach; the Builders and Remodelers Association of Delaware Associated Builders and Contractors; Sussex Tech Adult Division; Delaware Black Chamber of Commerce; and La Esperanza.

Expo sponsors include SCORE, Delaware Hispanic Commission, Voice Radio, Linda Vista, Promotion Zone, Torre Engineering, DM Draper Media, True Access Capital, Sherwin-Williams, Freeman Arts Pavilion and M&T Bank.

"Last year's expo provided a great opportunity to connect with the diverse range of businesses thriving in Sussex County, showcasing the wealth of talent and capabilities within our vibrant community,” said Sergio Morales, who serves on the La Plaza Delaware board of directors, is a member of ¡DALE! and owner of E&S Morales Brothers LLC.

Free refreshments will be provided by local restaurants.
