The city of Detroit will host the Quick Lane Bowl once again this year, and although it appeared like Eastern Michigan could possibly be playing, the two teams involved are Bowling Green and New Mexico State. Both teams finished the regular season with a 6-6 record, and Monday’s contest will decide which team can finish above 0.500 on the year.

Ford Field is a great venue for this contest, so our experts made Quick Lane Bowl predictions with odds provided by Caesars Sportsbook.

Quick Lane Bowl predictions for Bowling Green vs. New Mexico State on Monday, 12/26

The Quick Lane Bowl will take place in Detroit at Ford Field once again this season, and this matchup marks the eighth game in its existence. The matchup features two teams that are 6-6, as the Bowling Green Falcons will face off against the New Mexico State Aggies. Although both teams share an identical record, their paths this season have not been the same.

Bowling Green grabbed just one win in their final three games, which came against Toledo, who had already solidified their spot in the MAC Championship. In their other two games during that span, they lost 38-14 to Ohio and 40-6 to Kent State. Additionally, their offense has scored more than 17 points in just one game during the second half of their season.

New Mexico State had a slow start to the year, but they finished the season by going 6-2 down the stretch. Although they faced weaker opposition in that span, they scored 49 points or more in three of their final four games. Additionally, three of their losses this season came to Power-5 conferences. So, although they are 6-6, they’ve shown that they can score and are in better form than Bowling Green.

Bowling Green vs. New Mexico State football picks for the Quick Lane Bowl

New Mexico State isn’t good at stopping the run (155.8 yards per game, 76th in the country), but they give up just 183.7 passing yards per contest (15th in the country). This is a good sign because Bowling Green produces just over 70% of their offensive yards in the air. Additionally, the Aggies are giving up just 24.3 points per game, which allowed them to go 5-1 against the spread in their final six games.

Bowling Green has covered just once in their last four contests, and that came against Toledo when they had nothing to play for. Additionally, only four of their six wins came by more than three points, and two of those instances were by exactly four points. Given their track record and the recent form of both squads, we foresee a very tight matchup on Monday.

Therefore, we’ll back the hotter team that is also getting points. The best bet from our Quick Lane Bowl predictions is for New Mexico State to cover the +3.5 spread available at Caesars Sportsbook.
