Biker dies in Ituni Trail collision

The Police say they are investigating a fatal incident which occurred yesterday at about 7 pm  on the Ituni Trail involving motor car # PPP 651 owned and driven by a forty-seven-year old mechanic of Kwakwani Park, Berbice River, Upper Demerara and motorcycle # CG 8386 owned and driven by Godfrey Willis, age unknown of Goat Farm, Ituni who died.

The police say that inquiries disclosed that motor car # PPP 651 was proceeding east on the northern  side of the trail, while the motorcycle was proceeding in the opposite direction on the eastern side with no head lamp on and collided  with the front left side of the car. As a result of the impact, the cyclist fell onto the road and suffered injuries about his body.

He was taken to the Ituni Health Centre where he was examined by a Medex  on duty who pronounced him dead on arrival.

The vehicles have been lodged at the Ituni Police Station and the driver of the car is in custody assisting with the investigation.
