Radiohead's Ed O'Brien Releases Solo Single Brasil Under New Moniker EOB

Radiohead guitarist Ed O'Brien has released a single under his new moniker EOB.

Brasil was produced by Flood, mixed by Alan Moulder and features his Radiohead bandmate Colin Greenwood on bass, among other musicians.

The nine-minute track lulls you into a false sense of indie security with finger-picked guitars with nothing but strings for accompaniment for over three minutes, but then big bass beats enter to flip the script on the song which subsequently evolves into an uplifting myriad of electronic sounds.

The track features on O'Brien's debut solo album, which again was produced by Flood and mixed by Moulder. He began recording it in 2017 and finished earlier this year.

A second single is due out in early 2020, with the record set to follow soon after. It boasts further collaborations with David Okumu, Nathan East, Omar Hakim, Laura Marling, Portishead's Adrian Utley and Wilco's Glenn Kotche.

Head below to watch Brasil's Andrew Donoho-directed accompanying short film and here to spin EOB's previously shared single Santa Teresa. Introducing the new song on social media, O'Brien said:

"We had a truly profound experience living in that extraordinary country. Made new connections with people and places, and happened to go to carnival in Rio in 2013. Truly the greatest show on earth… an explosion of lights, melody, rhythm and love. For me, one of those musical eureka moments. The video was written and directed by Andrew Donoho, and as soon as I read his treatment, it felt completely right. I really love and am so thankful for what he and his crew have done. Hope you enjoy it… EDX"
