Man charged in the murder of New Jersey DoorDash delivery driver

A man was reportedly arrested and charged with murder Monday in connection to the fatal shooting of a DoorDash delivery driver in New Jersey earlier this month.

Quadir Whitaker of East Orange, NJ, is being blamed for the death of Petra Rhoden, 43, in Paterson the night of Oct. 4, law enforcement sources told NorthJersey.com.

Rhoden was found dead in her car with a gunshot wound after crashing through a fence and striking a shed.

Authorities said Rhoden had just completed a delivery for the service; which uses drivers to pick up and drop off food for users of the app.

Sources told the site that it’s believed Rhoden’s killer was inside another vehicle, but it’s unclear if Whitaker was the driver or shooter.

Authorities haven’t disclosed a motive for the killing.

Whitaker was convicted of murder in 2002, but six years later the conviction was reversed by a state appellate court after he filed an appeal, the site said.

His appeal pointed out the use of hearsay evidence statements at his trial.
