University of Kentucky resolves dorm overbooking ahead of move-in day
Officials at the University of Kentucky said the school has resolved a housing issue after the school overbooked its dorms by hundreds of students.
The university overbooked by approximately 300 people, as 2,400 returning students reportedly wanted to stay on campus, along with a majority of the school's 5,450 incoming students.
Spokesperson Jay Blanton said all students who have requested a room assignment and enrolled have been given a residence hall assignment.
Blanton said fewer than 90 resident advisors agreed to be assigned a roommate.
RAs who agreed to share a room were given a $900 Visa gift card and free laundry service for the semester.
Around 30 students from Bluegrass Community and Technical College will move into a nearby University Inn.
Blanton said the new accommodations mean no multipurpose rooms will be used as residence hall spaces.
Students will begin moving in Wednesday.
