Michael Bloomberg is the richest person in New York

Michael Bloomberg is the richest person in New York, according to a Forbes 2019 analysis of the wealthiest residents by state.

The former mayor is worth $53.8 billion, good enough to be considered the ninth-richest person in the world.

Bloomberg replaced Koch Industries majority owner David Koch, who in 2018 was New York’s richest resident with a $51.5 billion fortune, according to Forbes.

Washington took the cake this year with the richest man in the US — and the world — in Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who’s valued at $157 billion, the analysis found.

The richest California resident was Facebook leader Mark Zuckerberg, worth $71 billion. His fortune puts him at sixth-richest in the world.

Alaska, on the other hand, is home to the lowest-earning richest people on the list. Leonard Hyde and Jonathan Rubini, both commercial real estate developers, were tied with $300 million fortunes.
