WVU Extension educational dinner meetings set

This winter, West Virginia University Extension Service is bringing education, know-how and research to your neck of the woods. Folks living in and around the Northern Panhandle are invited to attend the 2019 agriculture educational dinner meetings.

Community members can learn firsthand from WVU Extension Service experts and other industry-related professionals about relevant topics ranging from transition planning and soil health to beekeeping and livestock management.

The dinner meetings are an opportunity for residents to share a meal with other producers and farmers in the area, while gaining valuable knowledge and tips to help improve their own agricultural operations, according to a news release.

Meetings in the Northern Panhandle area include: Feb. 4, John Murray will present on “Beekeeping” at Grand Vue Park in Moundsville and on March 4, Lewis Jett will present on the “Top Issues with Vegetable Crops in Tunnels/Greenhouses” at the Limestone Community Building, off WV 88 just outside of Moundsville.

“The winter dinner meeting series offers a chance to network with fellow producers,” said Ohio County WVU Extension Service Agent Karen Cox. “All ages are welcome to join us as we share new ideas and revisit old ones to make your operation better.”

To RSVP or request information, community members should contact Cox by phone at (304) 234-3673 or by e-mail to karen.cox@mail.wvu.edu. They also can visit the Ohio County WVU Extension Service office.

Agriculture educational dinner meetings will be hosted around the state during January through March.
