Kentucky woman sues Texas Roadhouse after employee tried to cover her breastfeeding child
A Kentucky woman filed a lawsuit on Monday against a restaurant after one of its employees allegedly tried to cover her with a napkin while she was breastfeeding her child.
Sadie Durbin sued a Texas Roadhouse in St. Matthews, Ky., for “extreme and severe emotional distress,” according to the Louisville Courier Journal.
In the lawsuit, Durbin alleges that while she was breastfeeding her infant in the restaurant earlier this month, a male employee attempted to cover the child and her breast with a napkin. Durbin called the employee’s behavior “offensive and unwanted.”

A spokesperson for Texas Roadhouse told the Courier Journal that the 20-year-old employee took paid time off for his handling of the situation, but said the employee’s alleged actions amounted to “trying to find a compromise” after other restaurantgoers complained.
“Other guests were complaining about Ms. Durbin,” the spokesperson said. “He was trying to find a compromise between guests.”
The spokesperson also said the restaurant employee received death threats after Durbin posted about the situation on social media.
“[Texas Roadhouse] supports the rights of all mothers to breastfeed their children in public, including in our restaurants,” the company told the paper. “Unfortunately, our manager’s handling of this situation was misguided and wrong.”
