LYNNWOOD, Wash. - Four people, including a child, were injured in a serious collision Monday morning in Lynnwood, emergency officials said.

Police and medics responded to the scene, in the 20200 block of 44th Avenue West, at around 9:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a bad crash.

Two heavily damaged cars were found, and some of the occupants had to be extricated from the wreckage.

A man, a woman and a child were rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Another man was taken by medics to Swedish Hospital in Edmonds.

The road is closed at the crash scene, but the on-ramp to Interstate 5 remains open.

The circumstances leading up to the crash are under investigation. It's unknown at this time whether Monday morning's thick fog played a role in the collision.
