Saudi Prince Khalid bin Farhan Al-Saud has accused his country of trying to kidnap him. These accusations coincided with the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who has gone missing since he entered the kingdom’s consulate in Istanbul two weeks ago.

The dissident prince stated that Saudi officials tried to lure him a few weeks ago to kidnap him and take him to Saudi Arabia. “They spoke to one of my relatives a few days before Khashoggi’s disappearance and told him about a cheque. They told him they wanted to help the prince because of his financial problems,” the prince said.

Prince Farhan stated that “They told him that all I had to do was to bring the cheque from the Saudi embassy in Egypt.”He confirmed that he would have disappeared like Khashoggi, in case he responded to this call.

The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution stressed that it is maintaining communications with Prince Khalid and his family because the overall situation is dire.

According to some information, Saudi Arabia asked the German authorities last year to consider the possibility of extraditing the Saudi prince.

Prince Khaled has previously revealed the disappearance of five princes belonging to the royal family in Saudi Arabia, last week after they criticised what happened to Khashoggi.

According to CNN, the Saudis are preparing a report stating that Khashoggi was mistakenly killed during his interrogation and that this operation was carried out without the authorities’ permission. Those involved in this operation would be held accountable too.

The Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi has disappeared since he entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on 2 October to issue an official document. Meanwhile, Turkish security sources believe that he was killed by a Saudi security team who came to Istanbul specifically for this mission.
