SALT LAKE CITY — At the end of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ semiannual general conference Sunday afternoon, church president Russell M. Nelson announced plans to build 12 new temples, including one in Washington County.
The new temples will be in the following locations:
- Mendoza, Argentina.
- Salvador, Brazil.
- Yuba City, California.
- Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
- Praia, Cape Verde.
- Yigo, Guam.
- Puebla, Mexico.
- Auckland, New Zealand.
- Lagos, Nigeria.
- Davao, Philippines.
- San Juan, Puerto Rico.
- Washington County, Utah.
The exact location of the Washington County temple wasn’t announced. It will join the St. George Temple as the county’s second temple and will be the church’s 20th temple in Utah.
In addition to the announcement of 12 new temples, Nelson said pioneer generation temples would be renovated.
“With the passage of time, temples are inevitably in need of refreshing and renewal. To that end, plans are now being made to renovate and update the Salt Lake Temple and other pioneer generation temples,” he said. “Details on these projects will be shared as they are developed.”
The news brings the total number of Latter-day Saint temples operating, announced or under construction to 201. With seven temples announced during the April 2018 general conference, a total of 19 temples have been announced this year.

YAWN. This guy is off his rocker.
Just interesting that you’d take the time to look at the article and comment. The “YAWN” must be reference to your boring life. Many others of us find President Nelson to be a vibrant and energized Prophet of God. If that ain’t your thing, then so be it, but the one “off his rocker” is you my friend.
Your “prophet of God” needs to have his head examined.
The saddest part of all of this is that you people can’t see what a massive gluttonous corporation your church is. Start living in reality. Mormonism is NOT reality.
Oh, I mean, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is not reality. Don’t want to service Satan now.
Russell M Nelson: An Internationally renown heart surgeon who developed the heart-lung machine, performed the first open heart surgery in the state of Utah, and you’re the liberal loser who says he needs his head examined.
Just in time for the LDS errr Mormon errr COJCOLDS outfit to get into the pot business, too!
Haters haten.
Another Reader, I really don’t think it is worth our time or energy to respond to some of these hateful people we see in their comments, that is what they want is some attention, I wouldn’t even validate this kind of childish rhetoric with a reply to them at all.
Amazing! I’m excited to see where it will be built!
Why do they need more of these monstrosities ? They’re already everywhere. You cant turn around without bumping into an LDS church. How about spending those millions (billions?) on a legitimate charity? Put it to good use instead of another “monument” to yourselves.
