30. San Francisco, California
San Francisco offers something for everyone. Travelers love the city’s iconic sights, including the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz, its vibrant neighborhoods like the Mission District and Chinatown, and its outdoor offerings, such as Muir Woods National Monument, Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach. 25. Great Barrier Reef
Though the Great Barrier Reef’s coral population is diminishing, it’s still one of the most awe-inspiring destinations in the world. The region is home to more than 3,000 individual reefs and coral cays, and colorful fish like angelfish, clownfish, parrotfish and butterfly fish, in addition to various species of sharks. 24. St. Lucia
St. Lucia has been a longtime favorite destination for honeymooners and couples, but luxurious resorts and a romantic atmosphere aren’t the only things this Caribbean island has to offer. Visitors can hike and learn a bit of history at Pigeon Island National Landmark, or snap photos of the waterfall and flora at the Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens. “A lot of travelers are really interested in kind of a mix of destinations and some really love national parks, some really love cities,” said Erin Shields, assistant managing editor of travel at U.S. News & World Report. “Paris really has a lot to offer any traveler. The range of places to visit gives travelers the option to pick whether they’re in the mood to explore or if they’d rather sit on a beach and relax.
“For U.S. News we really try to provide a well-rounded look at different destinations around the globe so what appeals to one traveler might not appeal to another,” Shields said. “I’m pretty sure they’ll find something that will peak their interest.”
