Brazil’s bid to win the World Cup got off to a nightmarish start as they missed a glut of chances and were surprisingly held by a disciplined Switzerland in Group E.

The South Americans looked more assured in attack, and went ahead. Attacking midfielder Coutinho fired Brazil ahead in the 20th minute.

The Swiss exerted pressure in search of the equalizer, forcing the Brazilian defence to open gaps for their attack.

Steven Zuber found the equalizer in the 50th minute heading home much to the delight of their fans.

Switzerland’s disciplined, defensive tactics frustrated the Brazilian side who enjoyed the majority of possession.

All eyes were then on Brazil’s star Neymar to respond, but he was put under lock and key by the Swiss defence.
