ESSCom detains Indonesian men with live bullets in Kalabakan

TAWAU: The Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) has detained two Indonesian men for possessing live bullets at a road checkpoint in the Kalabakan district yesterday afternoon.
ESSCom commander DCP Datuk Hazani Ghazali said the two suspects, both aged 41 years, who were in an express bus travelling from Tawau to Keningau, were detained at 6.30pm for not possessing valid identification papers.
"They were ordered to alight the bus with their personal belongings and further investigations found a black backpack belonging to one of them containing five 12-bore live bullets," he said in a statement, here today.
Hazani said upon further questioning, the suspect said he worked as a security guard at a camp here and owned a homemade rifle used for hunting.
"Both were taken to the Tawau Police Headquarters for further investigations and the case will be investigated under Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960," said Hazani. — Bernama
