Snow continued to fall in parts of Alabama late Friday night.
Forecasters were concerned about icing on roadways and travel problems overnight and Saturday morning.
Parts of the state saw flakes all day Friday, and it has measured at least 10 inches in some areas.
The snowfall leaders as of 10 p.m. Friday were Randolph and Calhoun counties, where 10 inches of snow was reported.
Next was Clay County with 8 inches near Ashland. Shelby County got 7 inches of snow earlier Friday in Helena.
Other areas got half a foot, including Montevallo in Shelby County, the Crestwood area of Birmingham, Linden in Marengo County, Mars Hill in Cleburne County and Anniston and Weaver in Calhoun County.
Multiple areas have also reported 5 inches of snow.
The snow was even falling near the coast as of 10 p.m. The National Weather Service in Mobile reported more than a trace of snow at its office. That's the earliest measurable snowfall since records began in 1842.
More than a half inch had fallen as of 10 p.m.
Much of the snow falling is heavy and wet, and power outages had been reported in some areas.

The National Weather Service in Mobile said a band of light to moderate snow was falling across much of southwest Alabama, extending from Wilcox county southwestward to Mobile county as of just after 9 p.m.
To the south and east was a mixture of rain, sleet and snow falling along I-65 from near Evergreen and southward into much of interior Baldwin county.
The snow band is expected to spread east of I-65 and into south central Alabama through 4 a.m. Saturday.
That band could produce an additional inch of snow, the weather service said.
The weather service in Birmingham said light snow will continue eastward across central Alabama with a gradual dissipation from west to east toward daybreak.
"An additional 1 to 2 inches are possible for about a 30 mile wide band from Prattville to Wadley. All other areas will be light and up to a half inch."
The snow event was thought to be over for north Alabama, but a band of snow developed in DeKalb County as of 9:25 p.m. and could bring a dusting of snow.
A winter storm warning was in effect for a swath of the state from southwest to northeast. It had been extended into Saturday morning for some areas.
Three to even 10 inches of snow will be possible in the warning area, according to the weather service.
Winter weather advisories stretched out on either side of the winter storm warning.
Temperatures did not rise as much as predicted Friday, and the snow didn't melt in many areas.
And temperatures were expected to bottom out in the 20s and 30s overnight, causing any moisture left over on roads to freeze.
Forecasters are worried about icing tonight. There is growing concern about flash freezing and black ice on roadways.
It could become a "huge problem," according to the weather service in Birmingham.
Here's a look at the warnings and advisories as of Friday night:
WINTER STORM WARNING
Central Alabama: The weather service in Birmingham had extended a winter storm warning until 7 a.m. Saturday for the following counties: Calhoun, Cleburne, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Clay, Randolph, Hale, Perry, Bibb, Chilton, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Chambers, Marengo, Dallas, Autauga and Elmore.
The warning was canceled for Greene, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, Jefferson, Bibb, Hale, Marengo, Perry, Shelby and St. Clair counties as of 10 p.m. because no more snow was expected in those areas. However, forecasters cautioned that doesn't mean there will be no more impacts in those areas.
Total accumulations of 5 inches will be common, with higher totals up to 10 inches in the higher terrain in east central Alabama.
South Alabama: Choctaw, Clarke, Wilcox and Washington counties.
The winter storm warning had been extended until midnight for southwest Alabama.
Additional snow accumulations of 1-3 inches were expected Friday night.
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY
Central Alabama: Cherokee, Lowndes, Montgomery, Macon, Bullock, Lee, Russell, Pike and Barbour counties.
The winter weather advisory was in effect until 7 a.m. Saturday.
The advisory was canceled for Etowah, Blount, Fayette, Lamar, Pickens and Walker counties as of 10 p.m.
Total snow accumulations of 2 inches or less will be possible, which could make roads slippery.
South Alabama: Monroe, Conecuh, Butler, Escambia and inland Mobile and Baldwin counties.
The advisory had been extended and will be in place until 4 a.m. Saturday.
Additional snow accumulations of 1 inch will be possible, mainly on elevated and grassy surfaces.
North Alabama: A winter weather advisory for Marshall, Cullman and DeKalb counties in northeast Alabama was canceled earlier Friday afternoon.
However, the weather service said snowfall from earlier could hang around through Saturday morning and refreeze on area roadways.
Other areas
There are no winter weather advisories in place as of Friday evening for the southeast corner of Alabama or northwest Alabama.
