Mostly dry with breezy winds throughout: Northeast Ohio weekend weather forecast

Weekend weather outlook.(Kelly Reardon, cleveland.com)

CLEVELAND, Ohio - A mostly dry weekend is ahead for Northeast Ohio, with the only exception Saturday due to a very slight chance of light rain.

Through Friday night, cloudiness will begin to build back into the region, with rain chances staying near zero through midnight. With breezy winds, evening temperatures in the low 40s will feel closer to the mid 30s.

At most a stray shower or two could pop up Saturday, but the majority of the day is looking just mostly cloudy. Morning and afternoon temperatures will stick in the 40s, with those gusty winds making things feel degrees cooler again.

A cooldown is ahead for Sunday with morning temperatures in the low 30s, only topping off in the low 40s during the warmest part of the day. With the winds not dying down yet, wind chills will still be about 5 degrees cooler than actual temperatures. Thankfully, some sun will eventually peek out behind the clouds offsetting some of the chilliness from the winds.

The How

High pressure will remain in control of Northeast Ohio's weather Friday, leading to mostly sunny skies and near-zero precipitation chances. A low-pressure area passing to the north over Canada will force its associated cold front across Ohio Saturday. But with high pressure drying out the skies, any rain that results from the front will be much lighter and much more scattered in coverage, so chances have dropped to 20 percent.

Originally, the cold front bringing temperatures down to near freezing and northwesterly winds Sunday were going to spark up a few lake-effect flurries, but with the wind forecast shifting from the west-southwest instead, that chance has dropped to near zero, as any lake-enhanced clouds will be pushed away from Northeast Ohio.
