EAST LANSING - Michigan State is without a pair of key true freshmen contributors for Saturday's game against Maryland.

Wide receiver Hunter Rison was not in uniform and was seen wearing street clothes on the sideline prior to the start of the game while cornerback Josiah Scott was not seen in uniform. Both players were on the dress list for No. 22 Michigan State (7-3, 5-2 Big Ten) against Maryland (4-6, 2-5) at Spartan Stadium.

A Michigan State spokesman said both Scott and Rison were game-time decisions.

Scott started the first 10 games of the season and has 29 tackles, one interception, a forced fumble and team-high eight pass break-ups. Junior Tyson Smith replaced Scott in the starting lineup while sophomore Justin Layne started at the other cornerback spot.

Rison appeared in the first 10 games of the season and is fourth on the team in receiving with 18 catches for 223 yards.
