An 18-year-old Des Moines resident is charged with sending a threatening text message to West Des Moines Community School District students earlier this month.The West Des Moines Police Department announced Monday that Kiren Jay Kelly is charged with one count of threat of terrorism -- a Class D felony.Police initially said the messages, sent October 4, were the action of a copycat and not associated with similar threats that closed schools in Johnston.Officials determined there was no imminent threat, and the text messages were not credible.Kelly was taken to the Polk County Jail.

An 18-year-old Des Moines resident is charged with sending a threatening text message to West Des Moines Community School District students earlier this month.

The West Des Moines Police Department announced Monday that Kiren Jay Kelly is charged with one count of threat of terrorism -- a Class D felony.
