BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns defensive end and top overall draft pick Myles Garrett sustained an apparent foot injury while participating in team drills on Wednesday.

Garrett rushed toward quarterback Brock Osweiler during a two-minute drill before the play was whistled for a sack. Garrett landed awkwardly on his left foot as he extended toward Osweiler and fell to the ground, where he was assessed by a trainer.

Garrett limped into the fieldhouse with teammates at the conclusion of the session.

"That's part of the game," coach Hue Jackson said of the injury, but wasn't able to immediately assess its severity. "Obviously I don't want to get any of our players nicked, hurt, any of that. But hopefully things will be fine. We don't want to lose any player, especially not one of our really good players.

"But hopefully things will be OK, and I think they will be. I don't know that for sure but we'll find out as I go inside."

Garrett, who signed a four-year deal worth $30.4 million, collected 141 tackles (47 for loss) and 31 sacks and forced seven fumbles during his three-year career at Texas A&M. The 6-foot-4 1/2, 272-pound standout was held to 8 1/2 sacks last season while he dealt with a high-ankle sprain.
