Chelsea teenage hotshot Tammy Abraham accused of crashing Mercedes into another car while driving without licence

Tammy Abraham, the Chelsea starlet valued at £20million, has been caught up in a series of allegations following a car crash.

The 19-year-old, branded 'the future' by Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, has received a summons for careless driving and driving without insurance or a licence following a collision in January which left one vehicle written off.

Sportsmail has been contacted by the man driving the car wrecked in the smash who has made a number of claims about Abraham, an England Under-21 star who was on a season-long loan at Bristol City.

The other driver, a 61-year-old from Bristol, was driving a 10-year-old Toyota Avensis

The driver, a 61-year-old Bristolian, says his life was turned upside down after the player ploughed a team-mate's high-powered Mercedes AMG into his 10-year-old Toyota Avensis.

He added that Abraham helped him out of his smoking, written-off car, then raced back to City's training ground to get manager Lee Johnson, leaving him at the side of the road. The driver fears that he may be left out of pocket as the striker, paid around £25,000 a week, was not insured.

London-born Abraham, who scored 26 goals during his season at the Championship club, was summonsed following the smash and has since passed his driving test. He could face a six-point penalty and a £5,000 fine.

The driver relived the crash, which happened in Failand, close to Bristol City's training ground.

'I was in my 2007 Toyota Avensis — my pride and joy — when I spotted a Mercedes AMG skid on to a banking on the opposite side of the road,' said the driver, a full-time carer for his disabled wife.

'It was rainy, awful conditions and it looked like the driver over-corrected. Suddenly he was coming right at me. I remember screaming "No" at the top of my lungs and then — bang — it felt like a right hook from Mike Tyson.

'The next thing I know, my car is filled with smoke. I now know that was from the airbags but at the time I thought it was on fire.

'My door wouldn't open and I was desperate to get out. I saw a tall, young, athletic man get out of the Mercedes and come over. I was shouting at him to get me out — which he did — and he said, "How did that happen?".'

The driver says that Abraham then 'disappeared' and returned with Johnson. He says Johnson told him that Abraham was in trouble because he was on a ban and driving a mate's car.

He added that Abraham was in tears at the side of the road. 'He was crying so I patted him on the head and told him, "Come on, old chap, there's no need for that —nobody's dead".'

The driver was taken to a friend's house to recover. He then got in touch with Chelsea.

Sportsmail has seen a number of emails between the man and solicitor Peter Cadman, acting on behalf of Chelsea and the player, who has made two substitute appearances for the club.

Cadman asks for various pieces of information. No offer of compensation has been forthcoming.

'I feel like I've lost,' said the driver, who has not received payment for this story. 'I just wanted recompense for my injuries. I lived a mundane life but that's been shattered now with all this.

'I have been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. I have depression and I'm irritable. For the first two months I had flashbacks and nightmares and couldn't sleep. He almost kills me and takes me away from my grandchildren and what will I get? A balloon on a stick because he's not insured. My car is written off and I've had to buy a £500 old Ford Mondeo diesel. I get £62-odd a week carer's allowance. I can barely do my allotment.'

Abraham is yet to appear at court. He posed for a picture with his driving instructor after passing his test in March, which was put on to social media by the company.

Both Chelsea and Bristol City declined to comment. It is understood that senior Stamford Bridge figures are aware of what happened, have spoken to Abraham and hope he learns from it.

Adam Matthews, also on loan at City, lent Abraham the car, said a spokesperson for his parent club Sunderland.
