Marks & Spencer will open its 35,000sq ft store in Aberystwyth today.

The shop store will feature three floors of clothing, a large foodhall and an M&S Café.

Local residents are invited to grab a glass of fizz and celebrate the opening at 10am when store manager Chris Bentley, and his team of 150 colleagues will cut the ribbon and welcome customers into the store for the very first time.

Throughout the day, customers will be given special treats and surprises, including a competition to win M&S gift cards and in-store sampling.

Mr Bentley said: “I’m really looking forward to welcoming our first customers through the doors and seeing the reaction from local residents.

"Our team, many of whom are from the area, will be ensuring that the local community is at the heart of everything we do, and that every time a customer shops with us, we make it a special visit."

The store will have womenswear, lingerie, menswear and kidswear departments.

There will also be a beauty section, a foodhall with 6,000 products, and the cafe will seat 116 customers.

M&S Aberystwyth will be open from 8am–8pm Monday to Friday, from 8am-7pm on Saturdays and from 10.30am-4.30pm on Sundays.
