JSO: 2 teens arrested after stolen car crashes into officer's cruiser

13-year-old, 16-year-old are charged with assault of officer, carjacking

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two teenagers were arrested Friday night after a carjacking escalated into a police pursuit on the city's Westside, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

The carjacking took place in a subdivision off Chaffee Road, officials said.

An officer spotted the stolen vehicle on Old Middleburg Road and followed it to Lane Avenue South, where the officer was able to force the vehicle to stop. The driver of the stolen vehicle then backed up and rammed the officer’s cruiser, police said.

A 13-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy were inside the stolen vehicle, police said. Officers said the teenagers are charged with aggravated assault of an officer and carjacking.

It is unclear which teenager was driving the vehicle.

No injuries were reported.
