2-year-old girl killed, several others injured in crash near Tumalo

UPDATE: Sherwood man arraigned on manslaughter charge in toddler's death

A 2-year-old girl was killed and several other people injured in a crash near Tumalo on Sunday, Deschutes County Sheriff's officials said.

A black Toyota Tacoma, driven by 45-year-old David Fincher of Sherwood, lost control as it turned around a corner on Highway 20, crossing into the opposite lane, officials said in a news release. The Tacoma collided with two other cars, a gray Volkswagen Jetta and a gray Dodge Charger.

One of the Jetta's passengers, a 2-year-old girl, died at the scene of the crash.

The Jetta's driver, 37-year-old Sarah Peterson of Bend and her passenger, a 7-year-old boy, were taken to a local hospital. The occupants of the Charger,  28-year-old Alexander Perkins and 27-year-old Ashley Perkins of Bend, were taken to the hospital as well.

Investigators also believe that Fincher nearly struck an unidentified bicyclist just west of the crash location.

Fincher was charged with manslaughter, officials said. He is also charged driving under the influence of intoxicants and five counts of assault, court records show.

The highway was closed for approximately three hours after the crash.

Oregon State Police, the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, Deschutes County fire district and the Oregon Department of Transportation are investigating the crash.

Authorities ask that anyone with more information about the crash contact Jason Hanson at 541-388-6213 or the Oregon State Police at 503-375-3555.
