A 61-year-old Oakland man died late Friday after crashing his car while exiting Interstate-580, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Patrolmen arrived at the westbound Harrison Street off-ramp in Oakland shortly before midnight to find the driver ejected from his badly damaged 1995 Mercedes as a result of the crash.

The Alameda County coroner identified the victim as Andre McDougle.

Despite attempts to revive him, McDougle was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP.

CHP investigators do not think any other vehicles were involved in the crash. They have not yet determined if drugs or alcohol might have played a role.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the CHP at 707-551-4100 or 510-450-3821.
