The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was called to a vehicle versus Pedestrian crash early Sunday morning in Gray County resulting in the death of one person.

At approximately 12:31 a.m., Nancy Castillo, 23, of Pampa was driving a 2000 Ford passenger car eastbound on the entrance ramp to IH-40E approximately one mile east of Alanreed. Castillo lost control of her vehicle and skidded into the median between the entrance ramp and eastbound IH-40 causing all four tires to blow-out. Castillo's vehicle came to a rest and was disabled in the eastbound lanes of travel on IH-40.

Harbinder Singh, 65, of Bakersfield, Calif., was driving a 2016 Freightliner truck tractor towing a 2016 Utility trailer eastbound on IH-40. Castillo exited her vehicle and was standing in the left lane when she was struck by the truck tractor causing her death.

Castillo was pronounced dead on scene by the Gray County Justice of the Peace, Mary Ann Carpenter. She was suspected as being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash which may have been a contributing factor.

Friends of Castillo set up a GoFundMe page in her name. It raised over $1,500 in its first hour.

Singh was not injured and was wearing his seat belt.
