Portland man dies in single-car crash in Clatsop County

Emergency crews responded around 8 p.m. March 19, 2016 to reports of a single-car crash on U.S. 101 north of Cannon Beach, police said. They discovered a 1998 Volvo sedan had driven off a curve just north of Cannon Beach. Crews discover the driver was dead at the scene.

A Portland man died Saturday after a single-car crash on U.S. 101 in Clatsop County, the Oregon State Police said Monday.

Emergency crews responded about 8 p.m. to reports of a single-car crash, police said. They discovered a 1998 Volvo sedan had driven off a curve just north of Cannon Beach, police said. Crews found the car crashed into a group of trees.

Police identified Paul R. Kipp, 63, of Portland as the driver. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in the car, police said.

Speed could have been a contributing factor, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
